The first of several tree Spirits to come. Each one will be titled in two words, depicting an emotion that the spirits represent. The inlay (drawing) is around A5, with a black-flecked mount and will have a birch wood frame. But there will be two poster size drawings for sale during the event, which I will be showing by the end of this month. I hope everyone will appreciate the simplicity of the subject and its detail.

"I See You"
This is the only colour example I have for what is roughly to come later this month. The Actual work will be in black & white, but I felt the need to colour this drawing in. I feel as though this should belong in a Narrative, which gives me another idea for a future story I wish to write and Illustrate called: 'The Manxology'. A project that will be worked upon privately for the following year or two.

The Tree's are talking!
![]() |
Chalk & Charcoal |
This is a study of a tree from my imagination, the only reference I had was a branch, around shoulder height. This actually broke off at work during the heavy snow earlier this year. I begin with creating gestural marks, letting my subconscious do some of the work, whilst still maintaining control and achieving the organic movement of the tree. I then started to go into detail with charcoal and a little pencil using the bark and crack marks from the branch. I'm not sure what species of tree it is in my mind, but I felt very connected with this drawing and will be producing more... but as tree spirits! This is all toward an exhibition I will be having with another Fairytale Artist down at the 'Isle Gallery, Tynwald Mills.

1st Year University, 2004
I found both the plates and the prints to these two pieces from my University days back in Falmouth. I would like to try print making again, as my style of drawing could make a good relationship with print making. The Portrait above is an etching, the Abstract Landscape was done using acid.
"'New Directions"
These are a number of developmental drawings or attempts, as a change to my characters designs with no backgrounds. The landscape Artist is still a popular direction on the Isle of Man, but I have been thinking of taking inspiration of the islands landscape and adding a twist, with Bison, wild animals and people traveling through the lands. So to get going, I always exercise this with a number of examples of my own. 70% of the time I make gestural lines inside a rough box and take it from there... lets see where this goes!

'WOSAT' Open Studios
Illustrated Map of Peel, Isle of Man. (Pen & Ink / Watercolour)
After a few thumbnails and concepts in my sketchbook, I began to Illustrate the map over the weekend, to be inserted into the WOSAT Trail Guide, also including a poster of the event. I'll be attending this event at the 'Isle Gallery', Tynwald Mills, St. Johns, selling the prints, along with my own collection of work. My approach was listing the main features of Peel in a decipherable and simple way to both children and adults. And I hope it's worked.
