Commission for a House

(Finished Sketch before Mounting)

This was a first, to be commissioned to draw a house for my client, who just happened to be my manager at the time, in Douglas. I took this on knowing full well it was a sensitive project as the client also had in possession a drawing from their previous home and he was determined to have this pieces equally detailed and realistic  right down to the brick work. So I began from working on the foreground (tree branches), around the edges of the picture and working inwards to the house that stood in contrast to the rest of the environment.

The drawing was going to be set into an oval mount, but I was worried as I was working from a rectangle photograph, so I made some adjustments to the far ends with some light shading and for what ever reason I wanted to place a bird perched in the bushes on the left hand side which impressed my client.

I was happy overall, wouldn't mind doing one of these again, very different to what I normally Illustrate.
