KASSOSO: 'When Myth Becomes Reality', by David Leesley

Illustration by, Tom Egan. Published by, 'Penwith Press', Cornwall.

As I have been working with 3D Software lately, it was nice to be able to have the time to indulge back into my traditional medium on another edition of David Leesely's book release (coming soon)! The cover is a depiction of the tribal myth of the 'Werebats', transforming from the volcano to the jungle floor. I specifically wanted to create a haunting and linear look to the cover, set during the night, but keeping the detail on the figures. Washed in water-colour, ink and black pen, picking out the key colours from the volcano, the golden mane and luminescent fungi.

'Myth & Mooar'

Behold, the exhibition with Julie Roberts and myself. Cant wait to meet everyone, it's been a while since I have left the house! Still I hope it will be a success for us and the Isle Gallery - they need all the support they can get.

On The Edge

(Acrylic)

This was painted during the WOSAT Trail, among the other landscape thumbnails. Again, straight from my own thumbnail reference my approach was just colour and perspective. Painting landscapes are far more relaxing that taking anatomy and character design into account and that most of the time I have no background to my characters.... not sure why! The cliff edge and the man, looking on ahead to the path, hoping it will be a clearer and opportunistic level for the migration

Tree Spirits

The first of several tree Spirits to come. Each one will be titled in two words, depicting an emotion that the spirits represent. The inlay (drawing) is around A5, with a black-flecked mount and will have a birch wood frame. But there will be two poster size drawings for sale during the event, which I will be showing by the end of this month. I hope everyone will appreciate the simplicity of the subject and its detail.

"I See You"

This is the only colour example I have for what is roughly to come later this month. The Actual work will be in black & white, but I felt the need to colour this drawing in. I feel as though this should belong in a Narrative, which gives me another idea for a future story I wish to write and Illustrate called: 'The Manxology'. A project that will be worked upon privately for the following year or two.
